Pétillon is one of the Brussels Metro stations on the eastern branch of line 5. Its preceding stop is Thieffry, and the following stop is Hankar. The metro station is located in the municipality of Etterbeek. Pétillon station was opened on 20 September 1976 as part of the first metro line of the Brussels metro. The metro line 1 ran between De Brouckère and Tomberg/Beaulieu. It was after the redevelopment of the metro network in 2009 that the metro line 5 became this station’s main line.
Near the station is the Avenue des Volontaires/Vrijwilligerslaan and the Rue Major Pétillon/Majoor Pétillonstraat, after which the station was named. At the exit of the Avenue Louis Schmidt/-laan you will find the tram stop of the same name which is served by lines 7 and 25.
The area is mostly residential, with schools such as the Koninklijk Atheneum Etterbeek, l’Univers des Enfants and the Japanese Kindergarten of Brussels. There are also restaurants, and a Carrefour within walking distance.
